Roman Carr is an impostor, an American tv writer at his peak, who still has trouble facing his Gaspé Peninsula origins. A chronicle of the American Sixties, Métis Beach captures the extraordinary hopes and repressions of a time like no other.

I was happily surprised. A good first book.

Mehso-so

Roman Carr is a controversial tv writer whose hit show is garnering protests just as his personal life and past get messy and tragic. This epic novel has everything and the kitchen sink in it and it left me fatigued by the main character‘s constantly eventful life in the end. I started reading this one in 2017 but never got more than 140 pages in. I‘m starting over and hoping it grabs me faster this time. Gatsby has snuggled into the top of the couch for our reading time. I think the pollen outside wore her out (it does me). Can you see the yellow in her foot pads? #schnauzersoflitsy

AutumnRLS I love your Gatsby so much! Reminds me of my Sabi. She's either on top of the couch or under it. Lol. 5y
BookNAround @AutumnRLS Thanks. She‘s definitely my love puppy. â¤ï¸ 5y

Next up for #24in48. Poor Gatsby is hiding her face because her beard was so matted she had to have it shaved off and no self-respecting schnauzer is ever beardless. (I, on the other hand, am always pleased to have all of my chin hairs temporarily removed.)
