Wild meets Endless Love in this multilayered story of love, survival, and self-discovery McKenna Berney is a lucky girl. She has a loving family and has been accepted to college for the fall. But McKenna has a different goal in mind: much to the chagrin of her parents, she defers her college acceptance to hike the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia with her best friend. And when her friend backs out, McKenna is determined to go through with the dangerous trip on her own. While on the Trail, she meets Sam. Having skipped out on an abusive dad and quit school, Sam has found a brief respite on the Trail, where everyones a drifter, at least temporarily. Despite lives headed in opposite directions, McKenna and Sam fall in love on an emotionally charged journey of dizzying highs and devastating lows. When their punch-drunk love leads them off the trail, McKenna has to persevere in a way she never thought possible to beat the odds or risk both their lives.

Thanks for the tag @Arvena 😊

The tagged book is all about two teenagers hiking the Appalachian Trail together and is the most environmentally themed book I could think of!

My middle name is from my great grandmother but I think my parents just liked my first name 😂

I am thankful that I am warm and fed, and that my family are healthy. I am also grateful that I have the time to do things I love 💕

A recent high school grad who hikes the AT sobo and solo. Overall it was fun and made me long for the day I get to be on the AT myself. Some aspects of trail life felt off. No mention of trail names, hitching, zero days. And once the two main characters SELL fruit to other hikers which would never happen. 😅 Got annoyed at the love interest for always shaming McKenna for coming from a well-off family.

McKenna knew that for the rest of her life, rain on a tent flap would be the sound of falling in love...The person she became inside that shadow-filled tent was somebody that nobody else on earth—nobody but Sam—had ever seen.

This is a sweet story and a quick read. I enjoyed how the story came from the perspectives of McKenna and Sam. I also really liked all the information about hiking, and taking care and exploring our earth. 🌎

Mehso-so

So I knew this was a romance before I started reading it, and I really liked this book up until page 200 or so. Not gonna spoil it, but I think if the endgame had been different there may have been reason to squee. But alas, I saw it coming, it came, and it was just meh when it got there. But I'm also not a hopeless romantic 😊 instead of the soaring girl power I was expecting, I got girl power leap frog. 3/5 stars

I love a good YA novel. All the emotions and the drama and finding yourself. It's pretty intense. I read this one in a single sitting - couldn't put it down. The risks the MC takes... Her determination and growth. Phenomenal.

Blair_Reads Sounds like a great read! 8y
GetFictional @Blair_Reads it's so inspiring! If I had a daughter, I'd encourage her to read it. 8y

Mehso-so

Typical rich, white protagonist trying to prove herself to her parents. Protagonist meets wayward white boy. Very Meh. I will say that the descriptions of the AT and the protag's hiking journey were beautifully written. The story as a whole was very underwhelming for me.

A strong, surprisingly feminist YA novel about pushing your limits, confronting your privilege, and knowing when to trust yourself above others.

I enjoyed this book immensely.
