This is my least favorite of the Peter Hessler China series, but it is an interesting perspective. He rented a car and drove around China exploring how the change to automobiles and highways affected average Chinese people. I've tagged his better books below. #planestrainsandautomobiles #photoadaynov16

RanaElizabeth This is the only one of his I haven't read, maybe I don't need to if it's just not as good. I loved River Town so much. 8y

Megabooks @RanaElizabeth Yeah, I just wasn't feeling it. It just didn't have the same voice as the other two. I was a bit bored. 8y
Laura317 I enjoyed River Town. I will certainly look for the others. 8y
Megabooks @Laura317 Oracle Bones checks in with some of his students from River Town, which I loved. 8y
EricaReads I liked this book. Didn't know he had other (better) ones about China. I'll have to check them out! 8y
