In this travel memoir couple Matt and Karen write about the time they quit their jobs to visit all of the National Parks. At first they upset me because they didn‘t properly appreciate Cuyahoga National Park (a favorite) but they eventually grew on me. Their travel was interesting but approachable, and I liked that they seemed to keep a budget in mind most of the time.
This was a fun listen. Matt and Karen document their travels to 59 National Parks in letters to their friends Bob and Sue. Having limited my travel greatly over the past two years, it was nice to live vicariously through tales of their adventures and makes me eager to get out there and explore again.
This one took me entirely too long to read because it was so easy to read one chapter at a time and set it aside until later. I enjoyed the stories of Matt and Karen adventuring through national parks, trails and exploring hidden gems. It is interesting to hear about their travels to places I may never see. The only thing that would make this book better is color images along with the story (I believe there are some on their website) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We are thoroughly enjoying the adventures of Matt and Karen as they venture through National Parks and recreation sites! We have also challenged ourselves to accomplish this goal but have a way to go to catch up! Looking forward to our next adventure in 3 weeks!
Read for a challenge (book in epistolary form). I listened to the audiobook, and liked parts of it, when they were describing the beauty of the National Parks, but I though the humor was a little overdone. But maybe that's just me. Or, maybe I'm just jealous because I wasn't able to take a year off from working and travel all over to see the 58 National Parks... hmmm. Overall - recommended.
I haven‘t had much time to read lately, but have been catching up on this audiobook during the last week while doing house work! I really enjoyed the story of Matt and Karen Smith‘s travels to all the National Parks. I enjoyed that it was written as letters to their friends Bob and Sue. It made me laugh and I enjoyed learning more about some of the parks! I even looked up the sequel at the library 😁
My hubby and I really enjoyed this book. We too are on a quest to visit all the parks and have completed 26. We have plans this summer to visit the three remaining parks we need to visit east of the Mississippi.
Matt & Karen decide to see all 58 National Parks in the US. Their memoir is told through emails to Bob & Sue. I love this idea & tried to love the book, but I could not connect with Matt & Karen. The writing feels forced & disingenuous. Maybe these stories were funny in emails to a friendly acquaintance, but they don't translate into a memoir. I gave it 3.5 hours. 🤷🏻♀️
Matt and Karen Smith took a year off from work to travel to the 58 units designated as "national parks."They wrote about their adventures in a series of emails to their friends, Bob and Sue. Absolutely delightful mix of travel writing mixed with the humor found in day to day moments of marriage. I laughed out loud -- and adjusted my travel plans for the next year to fit in a few more parks. #nonfictionNovember
Are you looking for a fun book to read? The couple visits all the national parks,
it is written as emails to their friends. The writing is funny, descriptive and just a refreshing read. They have a website to look at as you are reading that shows photos, and a map and other interesting things. I give this 5 stars just because it wasn't trying to be political or devisive, as so many things are nowadays. Pick it up and enjoy!
*as soon as she raised the blinds the squirrel saw daylight and flew through the air, landing on her head...Karen said it was running in place on the top of my head*
This book is making me laugh out loud! Fun times on my porch reading today
so I read a Facebook post admiring this book. The premise sounded great so i ordered it. I guess I'll know more after i read it. I hope it's as good as it was touted.
