The Riddle of the Third Mile
The Riddle of the Third Mile | Colin Dexter
4 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
The thought suddenly occurred to Morse that this would be a marvellous time to murder a few of the doddery old bachelor dons. No wives to worry about their whereabouts; no landladies to whine about the unpaid rents. In fact nobody would miss most of them at all . . . By the 16th of July the Master of Lonsdale was concerned, but not yet worried. Dr Browne-Smith had passed through the porter's lodge at approximately 8.15 a.m. on the morning of Friday, 11th July. And nobody had heard from him since. Plenty of time to disappear, thought Morse. And plenty of time, too, for someone to commit murder . . .

Mehso-so

This is considered by many to be the weakest of Dexter‘s Inspector Morse novels, and I can see why. A very convoluted and far-fetched plot, and to be honest, not much in the way of successful detective work or brilliant deducing from Morse.

rretzler It‘s funny, I read that one a year or two ago and don‘t remember it at all. I‘m working my way through the series and enjoying them. Up next for me: 5y
TheEllieMo @rretzler I‘m also working my way through the series. This was the weakest so far - odd storyline about ex army brothers now running an estate agents and removal company (along with slightly more dubious Soho premises), luring Oxford Dons to London. Thankfully I‘m enjoying the next one in the series much more 5y

Is it me, or is this font weird?

1. Current read: Adventureman by Jamie McDonald

2. “Nert” on “nour” TBR 😉: Time to get back to the Morse series so it will be the tagged book.

3. Last “boof” adaption “nou” watched: I don‘t watch much TV, I think it was the BBC adaption of Little Women, Christmas 2017, with Maya Hawke as Jo. I have Andrew Davies‘ adaption of Les Miserables to watch, must get round to that soon.
