I read and enjoyed Marie Ariana‘s memoir, American Chica, so I decided to read her book Lima Nights this month for #readaroundtheworld #peru
Two characters from completely different backgrounds begin an affair. The first part of the book goes as expected, but it‘s in the second half that the book gets interesting and we learn what happens 20 years later!
pickInteresting characters, evocative story, a pinch of magical realism, all constructed capably. The ending seemed perhaps a tiny bit rushed, but overall I enjoyed it. 3.5 stars. Letter A accomplished for #litsyatoz and South American setting & author for #ReadHarderChallenge just in time to go back to work after a holiday weekend.
I'm ignoring the laundry on my bed for a while to have a #LitsyPartyOfOne and do a little reading. Since the bed is covered with laundry, the only other flat surface (besides the floor) is the washing machine! I've got the last of the wine I bought in Gettysburg, no tunes for now, and I'm ignoring the cat who wants second dinner.
My ILL arrived from across the bay bridge! I'm ready to dig into the book and dig into this shepherd's pie. (Not the best pairing but my mouth still hurts a little from a dental visit this morning and I need soft food.) #latinxauthor
