A great conclusion to the quartet, but heartbreaking. May cause tears on public transit.

rabbitprincess @Melissa_J From what I gather, Penman's trilogy focuses more on Simon de Montfort and an earlier Llywelyn. The Pargeter series does involve Simon a bit but focuses more on Llywelyn the Last, who married Simon's daughter, Eleanor. 7y

If the Doctor stopped by with his TARDIS right this instant and asked where I wanted to go, I would go to England in the 1280s and slap Edward I silly. I was already not much of a fan given his treatment of the Scots, but his treatment of the Welsh is worse!🖕🏼you Longshanks 😡

Earlier this month I spent a week in Conwy. My family and I made a couple of day trips on the local buses, which pass through Penmaenmawr 😄 I want to go back there because they have a used bookstore 😁

rwmg Maybe I'll give her Welsh ones another go some time. I started one but couldn't forgive it for not being Cadfael. 7y
rabbitprincess @rwmg Meanwhile I've read only one Cadfael so didn't have that expectation. I do like reading this quartet in four separate volumes rather than an omnibus; makes it easier to read. 7y
