Eastern Body, Western Mind: Psychology and the Chakra System As a Path to the Self | Anodea Judith
5 posts | 6 read | 3 reading | 9 to read
In EASTERN BODY, WESTERN MIND, chakra authority Anodea Judith brought a fresh approach to the yoga-based Eastern chakra system, adapting it to the Western framework of Jungian psychology, somatic therapy, childhood developmental theory, and metaphysics. This groundbreaking work in transpersonal psychology has been revised and redesigned for a more accessible presentation. Arranged schematically, the book uses the inherent structure of the chakra system as a map upon which to chart our Western understanding of individual development. Each chapter focuses on a single chakra, starting with a description of its characteristics, then exploring its particular childhood developmental patterns, traumas and abuses, and how to heal and maintain balance. Illuminated with personal anecdotes and case studies, EASTERN BODY, WESTERN MIND seamlessly merges the East and West, science and philosophy, and psychology and spirituality into a compelling interpretation of the chakra system and its relevance for Westerners today. Revised edition of the groundbreaking New Age book that seamlessly integrates Western psychology and the Eastern chakra system, including a new introduction from the author. Applies the chakra system to important modern social realities and issues such as addiction, codependence, family dynamics, sexuality, and personal empowerment. Previous edition has sold more than 55,000 copies. From the Trade Paperback edition.

I spent most of my week off sleeping and reading and running errands and telling candidates that I was taking the week off but would be back in touch on Monday, lol. What I wasn‘t expecting was to feel so unwound for the first time in a long time that I would actually feel creative and ready to tackle a new project — but I am! And so my deep dive into the chakras continues, and my plan for my next training is beginning to bloom. 🌺

ChasingOm (Staying away from the news has helped too, although my husband is making sure we have what we need (he works at a local grocery store). I‘m very lucky to have both him and a job where I already work from my own office.) 4y

batsy Interesting pick! Was it a good read? 6y
Cathythoughts @batsy it‘s not too bad. Read it a few years back. Interesting enough. Was taking a yoga course at the time 🙏🏻 6y

While it is important to give up the attachments to the lower whol egos, what is really called for is to become one with the divine. There is no we without an I.
