Faranae That was hilarious, thank you! (Also, they're right, the response isn't at all good for a work song 😂) 5mo

It‘s always a trip to see the original lyrics to this since it‘s one of the ones my parents heavily folk processed when they sang it to us

This morning I posted a photo of my grandson and a quote about the debt to a forming soul. He was looking at this book in the photo and, while this is a newer version, I've had a copy in my home since 1989. Many of the labor protest and women's rights songs that I sang as lullabies to my 4 children are now being passed down to my grandchildren by me and their parents. That's just one of my contributions to the forming souls in my world.

bookishkai I love this collection! It was a staple at my hippie summer camp in the '80's and '90's. We sang every day: at flagpole, before breakfast, after lunch, during break times, and before bed. One counselor used to go around and serenade a different cabin every night after lights out. Such great memories, and so many songs to aspire learning to play once one got past beginning guitar class. 7y
Suet624 @bookishkris Thank you so much for sharing your memories. And you're right - I'm still learning how to play some of these songs. 7y
minkyb Must be a New England thing. My husband still has his original copy. 7y
