Tim Winton's first collection of stories deals with men, women and children whose lives are coming apart and whose hearts are breaking. These spare, jagged stories, in which people struggle with change and disintegration, are vintage Winton.

A lovely sleep-in after 3 days of home schooling, I'm curled up in bed with the cool breeze coming through the window, ignoring all of my responsibilities and immersed in these short stories.
Loving the goosebumps I'm getting at the end of each one. Either, shock, triumph, joy, empathy, sadness.
These stories are none like I have ever read. Beautifully written, often like poetry, I'm carried through these stories wanting and wondering.

LiteraryinLawrence Good for you! Soak up the alone time! 4y

Perfect afternoon for a chillax in my new outdoor setting arrangements and a super cool book by Tim Winton, right off the back of my recent Winton read, The Riders.
Written in 1985, these short stories are intriguing, exhilarating and satisfying all at the same time!

Crazeedi Looks like a perfect reading spot! Enjoy😍🥰 4y

Pickpick

I don't think I actually liked these stories, but I found them intriguing, dark, memorable, and a little disturbing. I'll definitely seek out some of his novels.

For now this is my book set over 5000 miles away for #readharder.

Trying out some short stories from Tim Winton, while I'm waiting to get hold of my library's copy of Breath. It's currently losing points for the blurb writer, who hasn't quite perfected the art of spoiler-free blurbs. Other than that, I'm unsure and curious.
