7 posts | 26 read | 9 to read
At last, the costly and bitter war between the two Foundations had come to an end. The scientists of the First Foundation had proved victorious; and now they retum to Hari Seldon's long-established plan to build a new Empire that the Second Foundation is not destroyed after all-and that its still-defiant survivors are preparing their revenge. Now the two exiled citizens of the Foundation-a renegade Councilman and the doddering historian-set out in search of the mythical planet Earth. . .and proof that the Second Foundation still exists. Meanwhile someone-or something-outside of both Foundations sees to be orchestrating events to suit its own ominous purpose. Soon representatives of both the First and Second Foundations will find themselves racing toward a mysterious world called Gaia and a final shocking destiny at the very end of the universe!

Chronologically this is the 2nd book in the Foundation series, though this book was written years after the original series. Not as good as the first book, still a good story. I particularly liked some of the ideas the author presented. Such as, is Democracy better or worse than a monarchy? Is Racism ingrained in the human physique? I like books that make you think. 3.5 - 4⭐️

TheSpineView This is my #DoubleSpin book for July. @TheAromaofBooks Also another completed for the #Seriesread2022 challenge 2y
ChaoticMissAdventures The Foundation series is one of those that I always mean to read but never get around to it. Something about the series always feels intimidating even though I have read other books of his. 2y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! 2y
TheSpineView @ChaoticMissAdventures I have enjoyed this series. Hopefully you will get an opportunity to read it in the future. 2y

"Demerzel, Eto - While there is no question that Eto Demerzel was the real power in the government during much of the reign of Emperor Cleon I, historians are divided as to the nature of his rule. "

We‘re listening to this on audiobook and Cecil is not a fan of the narrator.

This book kinda makes me wish there was a rating between pick and so-so. Overall, it was very in line with the previous book style wise. However, there are a few spots where paragraphs suddenly are covering years at a time, so it lost some points on pacing. I'm calling it a 7.5/10

Wow. When Asimov gets political, no one is safe.

I'm pretty sure they're about to tell us Dors is a robot. But she CONFORMED she wasn't one in the previous book. Ugh! I can't stop reading.

Hari Seldon is kind of an asshole. #problematicfave
