A powerful but intimate book explores the sacrifices and triumphs of African-Americans in their pursuit of social and political equality, and takes a hard, painful look at the often violent resistance they met from white Americans.

#throwbackthursday to some Civil Rights heroes you may not know! This is an amazing article about some of the very brave women and men that fought for equality!

#tbrtuesday A Dream of Freedom. In today's political climate it is important to remember that others have fought before us and for us. We will continue to fight.

This book is great for our #raisingreaders, with a pretty thorough look into the heart of the Civil Rights movement.

I was browsing through the library today and came across this book that looks absolutely amazing! I'll be reading this with the Kid next month. Last year we talked a lot about slavery and the Civil War. This year I wanted to focus on the Civil Rights movement. This will be perfect for that! #raisingreaders #raisingawareness #blackhistory #americanhistory

Hooked_on_books Sounds like you're raising a little activist. I bet he's got a powerful future ahead: I can't wait to see what he does! 😊 7y
TrishB Cool 😀 I'm doing similar with recent feminist books with my daughter! Helping the next generation be informed! 7y
TheNextBook @Hooked_on_books raising social awareness everywhere! Especially in this house! 😂 I have to make change where I can. 7y
