pickI really enjoyed these renderings of Hafiz‘s poetry. They were by times both passionate and hilarious. This book would be a great choice for an introduction to Hafiz. It contains fewer than 10% of his poems, but what is included is an excellent sampling. Highly recommended!
I am happy even before I have a reason.
I am full of Light even before the sky
Can greet the sun or the moon.
Come to my window, dear world—
Why ever be shy?
Look inside my playful Verse,
For Hafiz is Barefoot and Dancing
And in such a Grand and Generous—
In such a Fantastic Mood.

The Astonishing Light
Of your own Being!"
@Peddler410 's mention of Hafiz prompted me to pull out my long-ignored volume of Daniel Ladinsky's renderings of Hafiz. I can't put them down. I can't stop blushing.
