Anna-Rose and Anna-Felicitas, 17-year-old orphaned twins, are shipped off to America at the onset of WW1 as they are half-German and their patriotic English guardians are reluctant to give them a home.

I‘m increasingly becoming a big von Arnim fan and this 1919 novel is blurbed as “sparklingly witty and romantic”; how could I resist? 😀

rubyslippersreads This sounds wonderful! 2y
LeahBergen @rubyslippersreads I‘m thinking this is very much a “you” book! The twins are naive and slightly dim and this whole first section on the ocean liner is giving me Betsy vibes. 2y
Suet624 I love that term “dim” for some reason. 2y

LeahBergen @Suet624 I do, too. It‘s said with more affection than “stupid”. 😆 2y
