"If you want to be a part of this family, then you have to do what it takes to be forgiven." Tragedy strikes the Amir sisters and with it comes secrets, lies, and weakening family bonds. The story was slow to build as we start off with intros to each character but picks up soon after. Perfect for readers who like sweet endings and their fiction on the light side.

I initially read this because Nadiya was on the Great British Baking Show, which I LOVE. I wanted to support her and read her book! It was enjoyable, if not amazing literature. It was a fun and fast-moving book about a group of sisters. Almost a Little Women vibe. Some parts were not terribly believable and I didn‘t love all the characters, but that wasn‘t really the point. It was definitely a good distraction during this time.

Graciouswarriorprincess I love that show and Nadiya too. (edited) 4y

During the #24b4Monday readathon so far I‘ve read parts or all of these 3 books. I‘ll post reviews tomorrow but it‘s been an immersive reading day that distracted me from the outside world. Now off to bed.

Andrew65 A great time. 👏👏👏🙌 4y

A light quick read that tackles the lives of 4 Bangladeshi sisters who live in England.
The author is actually a past winner of the Great British Bake Off.

This was a good fun read. I loved that it was told from each of the sisters points of view. They all had different and individual voices. The descriptions were great as I visualise what was happening.

Go Nadiya! This is a charming story about four sisters and all the drama that defines their family dynamic. At times it was a bit TOO melodramatic for me, but I found something relatable in each of the sisters and I enjoyed the shifting perspectives each chapter. Thanks, @LiteraryinLititz !

Libby1 I enjoyed it, too. A lovely, light read. 5y

I started reading this because I liked Nadiya so much when she won The Great British Baking Show. But I really enjoyed the novel! It's a tumbled-together story of Bangladeshi sisters caught at a moment of tragedy. I was reminded of the way Nadiya played the reality cooking contest: almost painfully polite, to the point of irreality. The clash between parents/daughters is familiar but enjoyable! #sisters #bangladesh #litsymademedoit. #diversity

Libby1 I liked this one, too! 7y
christineandbooks I hadn't heard of this...looking forward to reading it! Thanks fo sharing! 7y
readinginthedark I had no idea she wrote a novel! How fun! (I'm ridiculously addicted to that show.) (edited) 7y
EloisaJames @readinginthedark so am I! And devastated by new format and possibly not in the US! 7y
readinginthedark @EloisaJames Yeah, it seems that always happens with British shows I like. 😕 7y

What a fun read this was, my Love of all things Nadiya continues. The story follows the four Amir sisters in their small English Village, each chapter told from each sisters perspective. My full review is over on my blog https://goo.gl/qvDctP

This is a warm hearted book by the 2015 winner of The Great British Bake Off.

The four Amir sisters take turns narrating this quickly moving, kind hearted, thoughtful story about identity and family.

There was a bit of silly controversy about this book because of another author's review bewailing the proliferation of celebrity penned novels. A bit mean spirited in my opinion.

This is not a usual genre for me but I enjoyed it quite a lot.

saresmoore I just love Nadiya! Her TV persona is reserved with a hint of sarcasm and a world of underlying strength. I am very intrigued by the opportunity to get inside her head a bit more by reading her book! 7y
Libby1 @saresmoore - I love her, too! You've written a wonderful, accurate and vivid description of her. I hope you would enjoy her book as much as I did. 7y

I really liked this - not at all my usual kind of fiction, I'm a genre grrl at heart. But this is sweet and smart & nice distracting fluff with an authentic & little heard voice.

A new book about Anne Brontë, a novel by Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, an illustrated YA book about depression, and some great thrillers are among the new books gracing British bookshelves. https://britlitblog.com/2017/01/12/new-british-books-out-today-12th-january-2017...

I am not supposed to be buying ANY new books right now. But after the trash review of this in The Graun today, I made an exception. Written by 2 Muslim women (Hussain had a ghost writer, yes) how DARE someone suggest it shouldn't get shelf space.😡😡😡
