A quick #bookreport from #hiselderliness for @Cinfhen

Just 1 book “If you‘re interested in the moon & how they got there then this is the most fantastic book you‘ll ever read. If you‘re not interested in the moon, it‘s a bit repetitive. They had to practice for three years to get there you know”
Me: So what about you then, did you like it?

**Incredulous glare**
“I said it was fantastic didn‘t I?!!”

Lesson: Don‘t poke the tiger 🐆😳

Centique The starry picture is from the Dark Sky Project at Lake Tekapo (where I was just on holiday - not my photo though). It‘s a dark sky reserve for the benefit of astronomers. 3y
Crazeedi I love the moon! 3y
Cinfhen Beautiful location for a getaway, no NOT the moon 🌙 although outer space is cool too! Another wonderful review from my favorite reviewer #HisElderliness 3y
LeahBergen 😂😂 He‘s the best. 3y

Pickpick

Michael Collins' memoir, Carrying the Fire, is considered by many to be the best astronaut memoir of the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo era of space exploration. For reasons known only to my 12-year-old self many moons ago (no pun intended), I decided that Colonel Collins was going to be my Favorite Astronaut and that I would read his memoir. I'm currently re-reading it, and it's just as lucid, clear, funny, endearing, and gripping now as it was then.

barbwire NB: Litsy‘s description of the book incorrectly identifies Collins as the Apollo 11 commander. He was the command module pilot; Neil Armstrong was the commander, and Buzz Aldrin was the lunar module pilot. The Litsy review has also misspelled John Glenn‘s surname. (edited) 5y
Lcsmcat You know way too much about this. 😉 5y
barbwire We can blame and bless my sister for it, @Lcsmcat. She started the journey; I gladly continue it. 5y
