An instant #1 New York Times bestseller. C. J. Box returns with this suspenseful new Joe Pickett novel. Nate Romanowski is off the grid, recuperating from wounds and trying to deal with past crimes, when he is suddenly surrounded by a small team of elite professional special operators. Theyre not there to threaten him, but to make a deal. They need help destroying a domestic terror cell in Wyomings Red Desert, and in return theyll make Nates criminal record disappear. But they are not what they seem, as Nates friend Joe Pickett discovers. They have a much different plan in mind, and it just may be something that takes them all downincluding Nate and Joe.

Some long series start to get dull or repeat plotlines, but CJ Box gets better and more exciting with every Pickett story he writes. This is #16 in the series and I barely took a breath the entire time I was listening. This one has a terrorism plot and features my favorite off-the-grid master falconer, Nate Romanowski. I listened while moving and unpacking my new house and the story kept me up on my feet. David Chandler‘s narration is perfect💯

A good series. You could read the whole set in (21 books, read in order) a couple of weeks. They‘re nothing over the top. Just a really well written modern day western centered around a Wyoming Game Warden. 4⭐️

Another good book by CJ Box in the Joe Pickett series. I have been plowing through and may need to take a break and relish the last 6 books of the series. Continue to enjoy the developing storylines and characters. Some aspects are hard to believe but they are overlooked for entertainment purposes.

Picked up Off the Grid at a #LittleFreeLibrary in my area. I like these since it's a pain to get to the actual public library now and I like serendipity.

bibliothecarivs Hullo @KCofKaysville. I'm pleased to find a fellow Utahn and European history buff. In Cache Valley we've been mapping our little free libraries (in orange here): https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/embed?mid=1oUO8yX596VatXGnNCvCFeiwG6ys 3y
KCofKaysville Great! There are a lot of them in Sugarhouse and Liberty Park areas. I am actually from Kaysville but only spotted a couple of them there. 3y

As always, a great book. This doesn't make me want to visit the desert of Wyoming, though.

My favorite bookstore from my hometown of Casper, Wyoming is Wind City Books! Actually got to fulfill my dream of working at a bookstore and I worked here for a short time☺️ Friendly staff, very cozy, and there's coffee for sale! #getindie #windcitybooks

Last book, as yet, in an excellent mystery series about a Wyoming game warden. Exceptional characters, stories and descriptions of scenery.

I've been there for every one of CJ Box's books. This one, it really stands out. Used to, I thought Joe Pickett and Nate Romanowski were like Elvis Cole and Joe Pike from Robert Crais. Now I'm seeing they're more like Lansdale's Hap Collins and Leonard Pine. I'll be there for the rest of their ride.
