Rebecca Ringquist's Embroidery Workshops: A Bend-The-Rules Primer
Rebecca Ringquist's Embroidery Workshops: A Bend-The-Rules Primer | Rebecca Ringquist
2 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
For the embroiderer who appreciates the value of beautiful stitches but also likes to break a few rules along the way, "Rebecca Ringquist s Embroidery Workshops" is a refreshing new resource for both standard and out-of-the-box techniques. Based on the popular classes Ringquist leads across the country, "Rebecca Ringquist s Embroidery Workshops" teaches everything from the proper way to form a French knot and transfer a design to a canvas to new ways to stitch three-dimensionally, work with nontraditional threads and fabrics, draw with thread freeform, and mix and match machine- and hand-stitching. Also featured are instructions for 20 innovative projects, including a cloth sampler designed especially for the book (and packaged in an envelope at the back), table linens, wall art, and clothing embellishments."

My favorite embroidery books

Eyelit Timely post - I‘ve been thinking of learning embroidery. Any of these good for absolute beginners? 6y
eastbaykate Love Rebecca‘s book - her‘s also comes with a real cloth sampler to start practicing on. Any embroidery dictionary is helpful. I found YouTube videos the most helpful when I first started. Some diagrams in the books were a bit confusing for me. Hope this helps @Eyelit 6y
Eyelit Thanks! 6y
Johanna414 I might have to look some of these up! I haven‘t had time to do much embroidery since having my son, but I used to love it! You‘re giving me the embroidery bug... 😉 6y
eastbaykate @Johanna414 - hope you can find some time. Sometimes I have to wait until night to embroider which can be tricky with the lighting...I found a booklight that can clamp onto my hoop which has been a life saver! 6y

Pickpick

I really loved this book. I've always loved embroidery, but have always thought of it as kind of rigid. Love her carefree approach. There's also a cloth(not paper) sampler included which is so lovely. The ornaments I made in this photo were inspired by her ornaments class on creativebug dot com. The Santa pattern was from cozyblue on Instagram.
