Shortly before school starts, Charlie Bumpers learns that he will be in Mrs. Burke's class. It doesn't matter that she's been named Teacher of the Year. He's still afraid of her. Last year when he was horsing around in the hall, he accidentally hit her in the head with his sneaker. (Don't ask.) How will he survive a year under a teacher who is just waiting for him to make another stupid mistake?

I started this one with some doubts but it was really good! Due to a misunderstanding the year before, Charlie is very nervous about his new teacher! He can't seem to get anything right. One thing he does get right is befriending the new kid.

This turned out to be a great read and I'm looking forward to exploring more of Charlie Bumpers' adventures with my daughter.

My daughter's school is doing a #OneSchoolOneBook event again this year. Third year in a row they have picked a book I have never heard of. The first year pick was fantastic! Last year -- I had my doubts but it turned out great! I'm skeptical about this one -- I don't even recognize the author!

This copy was provided by the PTO for families that came out for Literacy Night yesterday.
