A thrilling tale of adventure, romance, and one girl's unyielding courage through the darkest of nightmares. Epidemics, floods, droughts--for sixteen-year-old Lucy, the end of the world came and went, taking 99% of the population with it. As the weather continues to rage out of control, and Sweepers clean the streets of plague victims, Lucy survives alone in the wilds of Central Park. But when she's rescued from a pack of hunting dogs by a mysterious boy named Aidan, she reluctantly realizes she can't continue on her own. She joins his band of survivors, yet a new danger awaits her: the Sweepers are looking for her. There's something special about Lucy, and they will stop at nothing to have her.

This was a good dystopian book, it had such amazing world building and I loved the descriptions and really felt the tension of Lucy's survival, plus the pacing of the book was fairly fast and some chapters were really edge of your seat worthy. I liked Lucy as a MC, she's smart and independent. As far as the plot goes I really enjoyed the mystery and suspense, plus the intrigue as to why Lucy is special was interesting

abookdragonsretreat I also enjoyed how this book had aspects of dystopia and romance. The romance was enjoyable but maybe not necessary, however I did like it and found Aidan to be a nice love interest. I did feel that something was missing from the book but I can't figure out what, the ending was satisfying but we didn't really get any answers or closure, which does make the plot a bit empty, however I did still enjoy the book

abookdragonsretreat the writing was easy to read too and I managed to finish this book really quickly so I do reccomend it for a fast and easy read with a good mix of apocalyptic vibes and a dash of romance.

Finished this one at Disneyland--I couldn't resist the picture!
I rated this as "so-so" for the benefit of much younger readers. This is clearly a teen-level book--I would argue very early teen. The characters and writing are very basic. The plot is post-zombie apocalypse without the zombies. I wasn't a fan of this book, but again, maybe it would appeal to younger readers. #winterbreak #book5
