Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow: Rise Headless and Ride | Richard Gleaves
5 posts | 4 read | 3 to read
"May I present the Last Descendant of Ichabod Crane..." JASON CRANE just turned seventeen years old. He's a STAR WARS fan and a history geek. He doesn't believe in ghosts or the afterlife. He doesn't believe in psychic powers or tarot cards. He doesn't believe in the HEADLESS HORSEMAN. But SLEEPY HOLLOW will change all that. Because Jason Crane has a heritage to claim. Jason Crane has a Gift to discover. And Jason Crane has an old enemy who will RISE HEADLESS AND RIDE. When Jason's grandmother Eliza Merrick says "I have a surprise," Jason always worries. The old lady loves cemeteries and genealogies, grave-rubbings and dusty libraries. This time, though, she's bought an ancient house on a hill above Sleepy Hollow. She's made some new friends there, too, including Hadewych Van Brunt, last descendant of Brom Bones of Irving's Legend. Hadewych has a Proposal for Jason, a proposal which will involve a tomb, an exhumation, and a treasure that has been lost for over two hundred years... THE JASON CRANE SERIES re-imagines classic American ghost tales, weaving together The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the House of the Seven Gables and the works of Edgar Allen Poe. Book One is set among modern-day sights of Sleepy Hollow: Gory Brook Road, the Tarrytown Lighthouse, the ruin of the Horseman Bridge, the grave of Washington Irving, Patriot's Park, Philipsburg Manor and the haunted Burying Ground of the Old Dutch Church. It's already inspiring Halloween tourism! Coming next: Jason Crane: Book Two "Make for the Bridge"

#NSR221 @Nessavamusic Gothic Horror, this book was pretty good. We follow a descendent of Ichabod Crane who is only 16. What I liked is how cool the characters are. The legend is very much alive. I like that the original story is included in the book as well as I had never read the original by Irving. I will read the 2nd book

Nessavamusic Looks like a fun read! 2y

Mehso-so

This man likes his analogies, and the high school drama was a bit too tawdry for my tastes. (Fistfights and staring contests tend to look a bit silly when you're dealing with serial murder.)

Day 18 #photoadaynov #HeadlessCovers
I don't own any books with headless covers, but thought this one looked interesting
@RealLifeReading

Leniverse I'm pretty sure I don't have any headless covers either. Might have to take to Google. Or get creative in my interpretation of headless. And I agree that one looks interesting! 7y
LazyOwl @Leniverse Yes, it is quite a specific requirement, but is interesting to see what people come up with 😄 7y
Marchpane It has the word headless ON the cover, I'd say that definitely counts! 7y
LazyOwl @Marchpane yes, I'd say I've taken theme headless very literally 7y

#recommendsday Great reads for #scaretober! Jason Crane is descended from Ichabod, but he doesnt believe- until he moves to Sleepy Hollow! All 3 books are excellent - spooky, action filled, w/quite well developed characters. #spookyoctober @BookBabe
