Pickpick

This book was fun but kind of boring at some times. Some of the stories dragged on too long. But it was nice when the shorter stories came. It was a nice read for during the day when you have some quiet. Starting the book is easier than finishing. Overall I like the writing style and how short the stories were.

Way back when I was just a weeble and starting out on my book-life, I discovered a volume of HCA. I remember crouching in the library aisle and reading The Little Match Girl. I felt the story deeply and remember how it stirred within me an odd commingling of sorrow and beauty--a mixture I'd never felt before. And I think that one story gave me a new respect and awe for what literature can impart. #somethingforsept #SeptemberPhotoChallenge Booktear

LeahBergen Oh! That is a lovely memory. 💗 8y
Litlady A beautiful retrospect. HCA and The Brothers Grimm were my first literary endeavors. Like you, they set the foundation for my love of story and books. Wonderful sentiment .. thanks. 😊 8y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Beautiful photo. I felt the same way when I read The Fir Tree when I was about 9 and was surprised that the story was just sad and there was no happy ending. I loved it. 8y
