Mr Panda is making a big surprise. What is it? The animals must wait and see. But waiting is BORING. Only one little penguin has the patience and politeness to stick around. Will he be rewarded? This delicious picture book combines stunning art, an unforgettable panda and a hilarious lesson in good manners. Steve Antony's Please Mr Panda has taken the publishing world by storm. The first print run was 115,000 hardback copies. ...there's a new pre-school politeness tsar in town. THE TIMES

I'll Wait, Mr.Panda, is a F book that is written by Steve Antony. Mr.Panda has something very special that he is baking for his friends. Everyone keeps asking if he will be done yet. They all get tired of waiting and just leave. At the end, only one friend is left waiting patiently. This penguin gets to have the special treat all to himself! This book is a great way to teach patience to kids and show them that sometimes it is worth the wait!

emilybanne One great activity the author suggested was to reenact the story in a class play! You can give the kids each a few lines and have then pick which character they want to be. Record it and invite other classes to watch the performance! www.steveantony.com/please-mr-panda-class-activity-idea-reenact-the-story-in-your-very-own-class-play The ESOL strategy I chose is #50 which is using a variety of comprehension techniques. 6y
emilybanne In this case it is role play. This allows the students to be more engaged in the book and memorize lines based off the story. A UDL guideline that can be used is 9.1 which is promote expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation. Since they are performing a play, they will have to make sure they know exactly what the book says and the meaning behind it so they can perform correctly. #UCFLAE3414SUB18 6y
emilybanne This would be a great book for a RA. The students can pay attention to this short story and discuss the meaning after. 6y
DrSpalding A dramatic reenactment or read aloud are both viable strategy is. I have also had students story tell his books. This might be an option for you to complete your assignment. Use your fabulous resource 6y

Is there anything more fun than a school book fair? She ended up with the Space Encyclopedia and a Pokemon book.

Bookish.Leftist.Auntie I was always so excited for the book fair! 8y
Lauren_reading As a teacher I still get pumped about the book fair! I tell my kids we can pick out a few books for our class...it's always more than "a few" ? 8y
Bookish.Leftist.Auntie @LaurenReads I would go overboard lol. It must be an exercise in epic self control to not do so! It must be great to watch their little faces light up with joy. 8y

Bookzombie I live near a middle school and I get so excited when their sign shows the book fair is coming. I don't have kids, but as a child I loved the book fair. 8y
Cinfhen I lived for book fair!!!! I'm soooo happy some schools still have them🤗 8y
KellyKate The Book Fair and the Scholastic Book order form, does anyone remember this? The teacher passed out the little paper booklet and you took it home, and if you were lucky like I was your mom let you order whatever you wanted! You tore it off and handed it in with your $ and 2 weeks later a box 📦 was delivered to the classroom!! #happymemories #thanksmom #buywhatyouwant #bookfairenvy 8y
DreesReads @KellyKate they still had those as of 3 years ago! (My youngest is in 8th grade now.) of course you could order online too! 8y
DebinHawaii @KellyKate Scholastic Book days--both order days and especially delivery days were the best days ever!!! 📚❤️😀 8y
bookishkai Scholastic book days were the BEST. @KellyKate my mom was like yours, she never limited my book buying/consumption. Toys I had to save up for, but I could always have/get books. I think it was because when she was a kid my mom was the only reader in her house and she never had any of her own, but I reaped the benefits with all the books I wanted because via Scholastic they were really inexpensive. 8y
Texreader Just worked my son's book fair yesterday. Yes they are the best!! 8y
Texreader @bookishkris I do the same for my kids. Want to buy a book? You bet. They have to pay for their own electronic toys because they steal from reading time. 8y
Notafraidofwords My mom always bought for me and my sister. She never said no to books. Thank God, because she said no to ankle bracelets for about 17 years. 8y
Laura317 Yep! Our kids love book fair time. They know we will always say yes to a book. Or books. 8y
she_barks @kellykate we still get the book orders every month. My daughter's teacher said she had her best book order ever because if me this month. 😀 We have birthdays coming up and I bought a bunch of stuff for them. 8y
