The first Sweet Valley Halloween as second-graders! When Alice brings home a bin of used costumes, both Elizabeth and Jessica want to be the pretty princess. Jessica makes a case that since Liz lost her front tooth, she would make a better ugly witch! Only to lose her own tooth! I think it‘s the first bit of twin switching, too, and a nice compromise in the end! Looking forward to the many more costumes in the series!!
1. I am named after my Mom‘s grandfather, who I never met.
2. The tagged book from the 1960‘s. I remember finding these in the library and read them because one of the characters had my name.

MG writer Swinarski explores the life of Kate McAllister and those in her orbit: 7th grade and you‘re being pulled in two directions. With friends, an out-of-state Mom and a cop Dad, seeing bullies and not saying anything. Navigating the complexities of tween years…

Anybody have a least favorite reading format for reading? Ten years ago I loved the idea of being able to read from my phone even if I didn‘t have an ereader on me. Did I once phone read during a bar birthday party? Guilty. Now, it strains my eyes and I kind of hate it and will only do it if no other format is available. Alas, when rereading Queen Bees and Wannabes I could only get it from the library on my phone.

About Me (for #AuldLangSpine):
1. I‘m Alyisha, creator & host of #AuldLangSpine. It‘s hard to believe I‘ve been playing matchmaker for 6 years!
2. I live in the Ocean State with my husband & our pet house rabbit, Moxie Crimefighter.
3. I love the beach. Being near (or in) water puts me immediately at ease.
4. I work as a Children‘s Librarian in an old 1800‘s building with actual gargoyles.

From the poem “Every Cat Has a Story”:
One cat hid her head
when I practiced violin.
But she came out for piano.
At night she played sonatas on my quilt.
These poems are such a delight!
