I got a kick out of the fact that this one seemed to be inspired by Nancy Drew (and not Silence of the Lambs as I had feared.) The fictional Nancy-esque series featured in this book even had a main character that got knocked out all the time 🤣

Captured: Buggy sitting in his book nook (closet), reading 4 books at once 😂😍
Also, received this new long-anticipated book (I‘ve met Vladeck on numerous occasions and find him intelligent and engaging… let‘s see if he‘s also a good writer ;))
And the tagged is my chosen book for June for #SeasonalCozies (summer). 🧊🍹☀️🌸🪻
#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024
Finished today for #SeasonalCozies but since I was only about 30 pages short, I‘m counting it for May. I‘m also going to cheat & use it for yesterday‘s final May #StorySetting #Ship tag. This cozy takes place around the FIGAWI yacht race Memorial Day Weekend in Nantucket. I enjoyed it overall. It‘s gets a little unbelievable at the end with the MC, a candle maker back in her childhood town, going to some pretty ⬇️
I‘d forgotten how much fun these mysteries are. It‘s easy reading, and while it wasn‘t too hard to figure out whodunnit, the familiar characters and their dynamics kept my interest. And there are always recipes. I feel like I gained 5 pounds just reading this 😄
I forgot to take a picture of the red velvet cupcakes I made, so you get to look at my famous pumpkin cupcakes, which, like the red velvet ones, are just holders for cream cheese icing!
Meh. I didn‘t like the MC & the bold hashtags throughout were distracting. The mystery wrapped up too easily in the last 5% with too many loose threads.
The only part I liked was the dog, Baby (an English Mastiff).
Book 1 #20in4 readathon
Book 4 for #summerreadingchallenge (cozy mystery)
I guess there was a reason I stopped reading her ice cream series. I picked up this first book in a new series (food and bookstore sounds great), but WOW I did not like this MC. She was so annoying and the worst kind of amateur detective. Also a lot of repetitive thoughts. I think I‘ll pass on anymore.
Finished in May
I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery, which was my #SeasonalCozies pick for May. Funny and lighthearted, with lovable characters, a hint of romance, and a mystery that kept me guessing. Set in beautiful Cornwall, with fun references to Cornish traditions and sayings. This is the first in a series, and I can‘t wait to read more!
Since June is wedding season, I decided to go with this one for my #seasonalcozies pick, because I already own the audiobook. 😂💍
The town of Shady Hollow is once again upset when the bones of moose are found in an orchard. The only suspect is Joe, the owner of the local coffee shop whose wife disappeared years ago. & it‘s up to Vera Vixen to prove his innocence.
This whole series is so charming! The characters are distinct, & the setting is lovely. The mystery was really clever & paced very well, & Vera is such a great protagonist. She‘s plucky & determined! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
