The magical realism in this book is top notch. The way Valente places these magical elements into our universe so seamlessly makes you wonder if there really isn't a little boy with the solar system around his head or a child who can see ghosts in their yard. Each story is incredibly lyrical and full of depth. Honestly one of my favorite short story collections ever.

Had this book for a couple years, finally got around to reading it and honestly loved it. Didn't want to leave the characters even to start the next book! I know things won't end happily but I can't help but root for them.

It was very conversational and funny, just not super well written. It gives a very good sense of who Rainn Wilson is as a person and reads like he's talking to you, but the list technique is overused and there are sections that tend to drag or get preachy.
