pickMore romance like this please!!! Alyssa Cole‘s writing is so beautiful with poetic word choices and lush descriptions that never bog down the pace of the story. An interracial romance during the Civil War has some obvious obstacles, but Cole dives way deeper than that and creates well rounded characters that face large struggles with the outside world as well as internal struggles. There‘s a perfect balance of suspenseful scenes and steamy scenes.
