Lazy Saturday continues...
Taking a break from Scandinavian crime thrillers to get started on this month's book club selection for the library where I work. It's looking like a perfect read for a soggy PNW morning.
Taking advantage of an end-of-year cold bug to finish up this psychological thriller. This is my second #kindlefirst selection and another entertaining if disturbing surprise.
A random bout of crafting while listening to an audiobook on Hoopla. My library is hoping to have Maggie come visit this next year.
I tore through a couple of the Jack Caffrey series while I was home with a bug, but I've lost steam in the past week. Less to do with the books, I think, than a general inability to concentrate. But this is nice: post drumline practice, waiting on some friends with a book and blackberry cider.
Lunch time read. Opting to stay at the library instead of running errand in the rain.
Volume 3 brings additional artists to the comic. Initially reluctant to change by nature, I prefer Tyler Crook's murky, detailed watercolors, but the spirit is still there. Spooky💀🕷
I've been on this British crime thriller jag for weeks, finding Bolton's Lacey Flint and Hayder's Jack Caffrey series addictive escapes, like potato chips, fed by the ability to download them from the library's Overdrive site. Discovered yesterday that OD only offers the first 2 Hayder books in Kindle and the Bolton books all have a waiting list. Since I left my book club book at work before my long weekend, I broke down and bought this one.
Reading in bed again with cats and tea. I've been enjoying this book a lot when I have the time and mood to read it. It slows me down, in a good way, this meandering and thoughtful view of an unlikely subject (hover flies). Unfortunately I was blind-sided by the Lacey Flint thriller crime series by Sharon Bolton and have been so distracted by that. Unfortunate only in that I lead a book discussion of Fly Trap this Monday night (1/2 way though)
Next in the queue. Picked up as a recommended read during Saga comic's short (?) hiatus, and decided to commit fully to the full edition rather than more reasonable volume at a time.
Celebrated my freedom to sleep in a bit and enjoy coffee and comics in bed this morning.
