This was a slow burn for me because at first the main character Ivo was basically unlikeable- loser friends, casual drugs, doesn't listen to nice girlfriend. Then as the story professed from his death bed you realize - the guy basically stopped growing ten years ago. And what if we all never got a chance to leave our 20's? Then I learned what happened & I ended up loving the book. Totally worth all the lead up! #mustread #literature

As usual Ann Patchett's writing is a home run. Great plot and lovely portrait of a family coming unraveled. What I didn't enjoy is that I didn't like anyone. They were all a bit dissipated and sad. Maybe that's just the nature of tragedy. Of course again- it's Anne Patchett so you still can't go wrong.

Not usually a science fiction reader and had a hard time with the gross out factor but fun writing and interesting set up overrode all that. (How 'bout the long sentence?! 😱) Just know going in it's a zombie story which I feel the publisher kinda hid but no matter. It has a lot of cool questions to ask about how much we can override our nature.
