This book sucks you in and surprises you with its beautiful oddity. And an unnervingly scary villain.

Mehso-so

Not one of Gallagher's best contributions.

An interesting book. Challenged me to think about faith and mortality in a new way. I like questions, especially existential ones. If you do too, you should read this.

Why We Broke Up | Daniel Handler
Panpan

Ugh. Should've broken up with this book after the first three page run-on sentence. And why was this book so HEAVY? Beautiful illustrations, terrible characters, and seriously, reading this was like doing bicep curls. Skip it, unless you want a good arm workout.

All the Bright Places | Jennifer Niven

This book was deliberately manipulative. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. Jennifer Niven can write. But it was never going to end well. I knew that, and I knew it would manipulate an emotional response. And I cried anyway. I hate that. Be genuine, authors! Emotional manipulation is not cool.

Stand-Off | Andrew Smith, Smith Andrew
Pickpick

It was compulsively readable, but lacked the emotional wallop of the first book. Which is probably a positive thing, considering the catastrophic emotional consequences of the ending in Winger. A satisfying end to Ryan Dean's story, even if I am sorry to say goodbye.

Carroll's style definitely shines in some entries in the Diaries, however his poetry is much more up my alley. Mostly this book made me feel like I needed a shower. Dark, gritty, disturbing, and with an aftertaste like a mouthful of gravel. You'll need a stiff drink.
