The Mummies of Ürümchi | Elizabeth Wayland Barber
Pickpick

an enjoyable read. while i was initially disappointed that the observations were from a museum trip rather than excavation or lab conservation work, the amount of research and information in later chapters more than made up for it. barber visits a distant museum in central asia to examine rare mummies with even more rare surviving textiles.
