What can I say, this man was a genius.
This just wasn‘t doing it for me. Solid writing, punchy dialogue, and true to the spirit of Holmes in my mind. It just didn‘t get me excited. I was hoping for a deeper and more nuanced character in Mary. Maybe another time? 90 pages in.
This was a great read! Humorous, intelligent, and thought-provoking. I loved the illustrations and layout. The authors felt like new witchy friends welcoming me into the secret world of self-love and confidence that can come from accessing one‘s witchy side. The overall message was very empowering, and the spells provided and the suggestions for creating your own spells really sparked my creativity! 🧙🏻♀️
Loving this cover 😍🐝
“Americans, unhappily, have the most remarkable ability to alchemize all bitter truths into an innocuous but piquant confection and to transform their moral contradictions, or public discussion of such contradictions, into a proud decoration, such as are given for heroism on the field of battle.”
“As a little girl, I used to make a promise to myself and seal it with a prayer: ‘If I ever get out, I‘ll be in awe of everything I see. I pray that my father‘s voice will stay shut away in this house and won‘t follow me everywhere I go.‘”
Incredible read. A truly harrowing and heartbreaking story, at times very difficult to read, but ultimately so inspiring. The first-person present narration made it an unusual memoir reading experience.
