M. Il figlio del secolo | Antonio Scurati
Pickpick

Hard to believe you can make a non fiction story out of such a period of Italy history. Just a few years, from the birth of fascism to Mussolini‘s rise to power, but such an involving storytelling, with a lot of references to actual documents: all together Scurati makes of this a book to fall in love with. #2019

Killing Patton | Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard

Nice surprise: I wasn‘t expecting this could be so interesting. Well written, setting scenes alla around WWII, well documented facts that happened during that war from France to Russia and USA, keeping a good pace. I will try for sure another one this Killing series. #2019

Got to the end of the third book of the Century trilogy, quite easily despite over the thousand pages. I liked the take on the Cold War, the view from inside the Soviet Union, and how it all fell down. But also the civil rights battle and all the US Presidents perspective on the back of the Vietnam war is really worth the reading. Few more pages and this last book could have covered till the very end of Century. #2019

L'inverno del mondo | Ken Follett

This second book was even more interesting than the first: the way things before, during and just after WWII were happening between GB, France, Spain, Germany, Russia and USA and interconnected into the 5 family stories is increasingly interesting. The reading is really capturing your attention with suspense and thrilling situations. Let‘s start the third of the series! #2019

I just finished it, reading through the last 200 pages without being able to stop! Historical fiction at his best with Ken Follett, no doubt. To me being passionate about history this is another way of reading about it. Now, let‘s start the second book of the XX century trilogy! #2019

Very good reading. This is probably the best so far I read by Robecchi. The story is intriguing and well interconnected with others and keep you involved till the very last page. #2019

Once started, I had to keep reading and reading to stay in the story. Very sad story but very deep sentiments about people in a country like Afghanistan that went through too much destruction in the last few decades. #2019

Another nice reading about history by Mark Kurlansky. As for the others similar books I read, Cod and Salt, this book is fabulous reading about paper, writing and arts, from the very early civilizations to nowadays. It is amazing to read about how many are still making paper by hand in various special ways for different color taste and use. Very well referenced and with an interesting Timeline annexed to it. #2019
PS: I have read it on my iPad...

The story is quite strange, reading is easy but the characters are not very consistent throughout the book. Actually, toward the end quite unrealistic and not consistent with the first part. #2019

A good first part with some good info and well written. The second part is no so fluid in reading and the last additions are very ripetitive such that i just scan through the latest two paragraphs. I was expecting something better.....#2019
