South of Forgiveness is a memoir from a survivor if rape and her rapist. Powerful, confronting reading. Just found this quote on rape and thought it so true

Quirky book is quirky. It works for a bit as we're introduced to Henry Quantum, but for me at least the attraction wore thin. The women in his life though, I realised I liked them better. His wife who realises she wants more than Henry. And Daisy, who realises she loved Henry, even though she let him go. Yes it was an affair but they worked. So, this is a character-focused book though the women are far more interesting in some ways

Quiet, good characterisation and an ending that left me going... Oh! But emotion reserved for ending and the book loses steam in parts, so somewhere between PICK & SO-SO.
Can't deny an original POV on the Titanic tho'...

Strong writing, and a compelling twin sister relationship made this book for me. It's not without flaws, but given its strengths, esp the complicated nature of Libby and Abby's relationship now that Libby has returned, elevated it.

I enjoyed this one immensely because of the author's lush descriptions of two very different times. But I didn't feel any connection to Odelle, who it felt like was solving a mystery, with some detachment. She herself wasn't connected enough to the story. I need an 'okay' button for books like these

Still chilled by The Toymaker ending. It's the story of one family, and what Adam, Tess and Arkady have done and will do in order to survive different situations in their lives. Liam Pieper had created some characters that I think are monsters but I understand their choices. Out 27 June

From Flying by Carrie Jones, about Mana a cheerleader who has to rescue her former alien bounty hunting mother, who isn't so much the suburban, overprotective mum Mana thought she was. I mean HOW COOL IS THIS QUOte!!

I understand the weariness in this quote. It's why I haven't been able to get it out of my head.

I found this over on Literary Feline's blog and love this quote as much as it makes me sad: the desperation for a child is overpowering isn't it?
