“Black Boy Out of Time” is a memoir, informative piece highlighting the atrocities of American history & its insistence on robbing Black children of a vibrant childhood. It‘s also a literary blueprint for queer Black folks interested in infusing Liberation politics with Inner Child healing Work. But more importantly, it‘s a historical document proving the existence of Black queer people—nonbinary people especially. I highly recommend this book.

I‘ve read many graphic novels. This one spoke to my entire spirit. Characterizations, illustrations, writing is all beautifully done. Highly recommend.

What's Coming to Me | Francesca Padilla

Reading “What‘s Coming to Me” right now. Based on what I‘ve read so far, Minerva is by far the most realistic character I‘ve ever encountered. Also this is the first YA story that featured mild drug use (the main character smokes weed with her friend CeCe), which is something I‘ve rarely seen in YA novels. I‘m at the beginning, but I‘m enjoying it so far.

Steampunknoire1930 Listen. This book read like a book adaptation of a television series. I hope someone talked to her about “”What‘s Coming to Me” possibly being on Netflix. (edited) 1y

Then, a Boy | Sherman Mason, 3rd

I finished “Then, a Boy” about 2 days ago. Beautifully written and character driven. I love how each character is relatable, complex, and rich. Braxton pulls the reader in with deep inner dialogue, so much so that I found myself wanting to protect him. I also love how Sherman addresses complex childhood trauma such as fatphobia and child abuse, as these are topics not spoken openly in the Black community.

I made sure to get copy of “Beast Boy Loves Raven” as I have their individual stories as well. Aside from it being an easy read, I love how realistic and relatable Gar and Rachel are. They‘re both awkward teens who are struggling to understand who they are and what their their powers entail, all the while still dealing with normal teenage things, like having a crush. #comics #teens #DC #read

I see myself reading this again.
