The web of life | Robert Herrick

Pickpick

My favorite poem on the day it was made for. "Corinna goes a-Maying".
GET up, get up for shame! The blooming morn
Upon her wings presents the god unshorn.
See how Aurora throws her fair
Fresh-quilted colours through the air:
Get up, sweet slug-a-bed, and see
The dew bespangling herb and tree!
Each flower has wept and bow'd toward the east
Above an hour since, yet you not drest;
Nay! not so much as out of bed?...

Not a lot of text but a story that comes across loud and clear.

Serendipity! Opening a book and finding it starts on the same day as today.

On the Noodle Road | Jen Lin-Liu

Mehso-so

A well informed look at the history of noodles and the culinary legacy of Marco Polo and the Silk road. But, more than that an intimate look at one young woman's journey coming to terms with what it means to be a wife, have a career and find balance in the modern world by examining relationships and women across many cultures. A dense slow read with a lot of detail and red but much to relate to.

Cooking the books book club tonight. Mediocre read, to die for coconut cake.
