Good historical fiction. I read them as way to review U.S. political events, looking for the ways history repeats itself. Came to the conclusion that history will repeat if we don't know and remember it.

Loved it!

This book, while incredibly sad, is a must read to understand the true nature of the struggle for people to come out of slavery and the promises made and broken during the American revolution. I realize that I know absolutely NOTHING about the damage done and how much work still needs to be done!
