Had 3 days off and accomplished my goal to read each day to the grandkids via Marco Polo. My son remembered I‘m Dirty as one of his younger brothers‘ favorites. Tagged book is my favorite of this group.

Last week they found cancer in my dad's prostate and today we're at the hospital having it removed. The doctors are hopeful that they'll be able to get out all out and that he'll be fine... but it's still a really stressful wait. 🤞 (UPDATE- SURGERY WENT WELL!)

I'm reading this thriller about an active shooter at a zoo. I'll definitely post a full review when I'm done, because the author is doing some really neat stuff.

Captivatedbybooks My dad is a prostate cancer survivor and the advanced medicine they have now for the treatment is wonderful. Dad‘s got this! (edited) 6mo

1. 📚 📺 Behind Her Eyes the book and the series on Netflix are great.
2. Caramel Apples - all kinds
3. Whenever the mood strikes really but I probably read more when the kid is asleep lol 🌙
4. These lovey Litsy events of course 😉 and the fact that Texas very briefly stops acting as an agent of Satan 🥵 (currently still waiting 😂)
5. My handle uses my middle name, Marie which I share with half the planet I‘m sure 🥱

ravenlee #5 😆 My paternal grandmother was very upset (for years) at my mother for naming me Anne Christine instead of Anne Marie. My mom didn‘t know my grandmother had lost a baby Ann Marie between my dad and his sister Mariann. My grandmother was still mad at me years later for having the audacity not to have Marie as my middle name! 7mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Agent of Satan! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 7mo
MatchlessMarie @ravenlee I admire the level of petty but it stinks that you were the target. My first name was actually sloppy seconds from my sister who was originally going to be named Amanda. My parents thought it was too popular at the time (1986) and held on to it 2 years later for me. I am going to credit the Boston song Amanda for that 😂 7mo

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I help with group related inquires for our San Antonio hotel, and I feel like they've been telling me how hot it is for the last 10 months. It's been about a year since I've visited, so it was hot, but not Satan's Scrotum hot. 7mo
Catsandbooks Oof yeah that heat has been terrible! I'm in MS and it's been bad, but not as bad as you guys 🥵 7mo
MatchlessMarie @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I think Arizona probably has us beat, but we still have highs in the 90s for the next several days. I think what makes us feel more feral is that our energy grid is so unstable it has a hard time handling extreme temperatures compared to the rest of the country. 7mo

This is a hard book to rate, because the good parts were easily 4-5 stars, but overall, the book was too unfocused and I didn‘t appreciate Ackerman‘s tendency to indulge in fanciful flights of imagination. She would say something might have happened a certain way and then describe her imagined scene in rich detail. She writes too poetically to tell this harrowing war story in a compelling way and it was a struggle to get into.

CSeydel I had to switch to audio so I could let the extensive descriptions just flow by. However, during the later part of the war, I was fully consumed by the descriptions of the Żabińskis‘ daring and the various close calls and terrors they withstood. 7mo

Where's Walrus? | Stephen Savage

This is a very child friendly book that uses only pictures and no words to tell the story of a runaway walrus, on his attempt to not be captured. This story would allow a great opportunity for children to come up with their own written story lines based upon the pictures that are presented.

The illustrations use various elements of design in order to tell the story. We see the use of both high and low intensity colors throughout the story. We can also see the use of line as dotted and straight lines are presented throughout the story to depict movement as well as mood. The use of form was also present as many illustrations contained 3-D objects that displayed height, width and depth. Many 2-D shapes are also present in the pictures.
