Mehso-so

A few good quotes, a couple things that made me think. A little dated, a little too meaningless business speak. But I did get a couple of gems that I will use in my new job role so that made it worth my while. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

This lacked the depth I was looking for when building a tribe. It‘s a little dated, but I expected that. Even for the time it was written, I expected more.

Tribe: Adventures in a Changing World | Bruce Parry, Mark McCrum

Pickpick

Covering all 3 seasons of Tribe, this book covers Bruce Parry‘s time living with 15 tribes.

Although I loved all of them, my favourites were in the colder climates such as Siberia. You see a lot about African and Amazonian tribes but little about those in the colder (potentially harsher?) climes.

If you liked the series this is a great read ❤️

This should be required reading for anyone in the Pacific Northwest. The author is Native American, so the book is very sympathetic to their struggles.

SamAnne I live in Spokane and work on getting 4 dams removed from the lower Snake river fie salmon and Tribes. Really recommend Invasion of the Inland Northwest about the Palouse tribe. And Thunder in the Mountains about the Nez Perce war. As colonizers we have an obligation to read the history and stories of the First Peoples. 5y
morgan_lionheart @SamAnne adding to my list, thanks! 5y
SamAnne And I added your book! 5y

White people have a long history of whining until they get what they want.

Cinfhen 😣😢😭 5y
Doughtah I‘m reading An Indigenous Peoples History of the US and this sentiment is detailed in that book, too. It‘s cool getting to read my country‘s history from a perspective that wasn‘t talked about as much in school. 5y
morgan_lionheart @Doughtah I read that recently too... It's depressing but should be required reading. 5y
