Arrow's Flight | Mercedes Lackey

The second published #valdemar book! This was a re-read for me. Even though I've read it a couple times in the past I could feel myself becoming anxious during certain parts. It's an interesting book that expands on Talia's story from the first book, but I enjoyed the first book more.

1. The Complete Arrow‘s Trilogy: Arrow‘s Fall

- I‘m loving Arrow‘s Fall compared to Arrow‘s Flight.

2. My indoor #greenhouse (using an IKEA Detolf Cabinet).

- It‘s hard growing plants in the desert.

3. Jim Henson‘s The Storyteller: Ghosts #1 by Márk László.

- I really enjoyed this graphic novel.

rachelsbrittain I love the idea of an indoor greenhouse! 3y
vumblereads @rachelsbrittain if you have Instagram, look up @ikeagreenhousecabinet and you‘ll see lots of wonderful ideas on indoor greenhouses 3y
rachelsbrittain @vumblereads excuse me, doing that right now 😂 3y

Currently reading Arrow‘s Flight 🤯 Kris and Talia??? Wth, why??? Totally turned off.

GondorGirl Keep reading... I don't want to spoil anything, but you'll probably be happy it happened later in the trilogy. 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl oh thanks! Something to look forward to! Almost finished with Arrow‘s Flight. 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads The Valdemar books are my favorites ever. I've been reading them since I was 15 and have read the entire series multiple times. I can't wait to hear what you think about the rest of this trilogy. 3y

vumblereads Okay will let you know! 😊 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl finished the trilogy! I know what you mean now when you mentioned something about later in the series. I found the 3 books okay, I feel like it could be better? But since it was written earlier (80‘s?), I think it was pretty good especially since it has LGBTQ themes in it. Didn‘t think there would be rape in there too. Im not a fan of the second book though, there really wasn‘t much plot but only character development I guess for talia 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl what other valdemar books do you recommend? 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads A number of years later she wrote the Wind trilogy which follows Elspeth. I think those are my favorite books in the entire series. The Arrows books are where it all started, but the series evolved a lot over the years. 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads I also really love the Owl trilogy, which follows the Hawkbrothers more than the Heralds. 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl aww I‘d like to know what happened to Elspeth! Thanks! 3y

I just couldn‘t stop myself. I just kept reading, then it was 5am and the book was over.

This is my favourite book of 2020, hands down. It had me nearly in tears at times, in stitches at other times, and in the end it was so heartwarming, I didn‘t want it to end. When I finished the last sentence, I just say there and smiled. This is a beautiful book, so relevant to so much of the current climate of our world. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics We all need a Marsays Island to escape to, where we are safe, loved, and allowed to be ourselves. This book is most definitely one of my favourites of all time, it‘s definitely getting read again, and I‘m going to have to get a physical copy and restart my physical library right here. #TJKlune #TheHouseInTheCeruleanSea #magic #LinusAndArthur #Zoe #Talia #Theo #Phee #Sal #Chauncey #Lucy #family (edited) 4y

Branwen @GingerAntics I had to buy it in hardcover too! 😁 The cover is so pretty and it's definitely a book I will always treasure! 4y
GingerAntics @Branwen absolutely!!! I really want to see this gorgeous cover in person, too. I just love the colors. 4y
Butterfinger I kept imagining James Corden as Linus. I want a movie. 4y
GingerAntics @Butterfinger OOOOOOOH!!! That is the PERFECT vision of Linus. YES PLEASE!!! I was thinking last night as I was finishing that this would be such a fun movie. 4y

I always forget that nearly the entirety of this book takes place while she's on circuit. I think it might be the most time in the actual job of a Herald we ever get. So many of the one-off books are people's journeys to becoming a Herald, and the longer cycles usually have to do with some huge historical event or crisis... Not that Talia doesn't go through a crisis in this, but I forgot how much I enjoyed the minutiae of her actual internship.

I just finished Arrows of the Queen, the first book of the Arrows Trilogy. This was Mercedes Lackey‘s debut novel and the first of many more books to come. The book has more world building in my opinion than storyline which was completely fine with me. Perhaps the author‘s intent was to set up the reader for the many books to come. Overall a great read! This has now become one of my favorite books of 2019. #80sfantasy #heraldsofvaldemar #talia

Rudis 😍😍😍 5y
Deifio Let me know how you like the whole trilogy. I liked it, but I think you can really tell that it's an older fantasy trilogy. 😅 4y
vumblereads @Deifio yes I‘m planning to finish the rest of the trilogy once I‘m done with #thedalemarkquartet 👌🏼 4y

Arrows of the Queen | Mercedes Lackey

Has anyone read this book? I haven‘t finished reading it yet but the book has a remarkable semblance to Harry Potter. What‘s more interesting is that it was written BEFORE the Harry Potter books. Which makes me think, did JK Rowling get her ideas from older YA fantasy? #jkrowling #harrypotter #yafantasy #arrows #heralds #talia #mercedeslackey #trilogy #highfantasy

OneCent76 I haven't read it yet but now you have me curious! 5y
vumblereads @OneCent76 yes please do! Would like to hear your thoughts on it 5y
Leniverse There other, older, fantasy books with a similar setting to the Harry Potter books too. A Wizard of Earthsea, for one. And the character of Harry Potter himself is clearly based on Timothy Hunter from the Neil Gaiman graphic novel 5y

vumblereads @Leniverse interesting! I‘m going to look up those books now and do a little research 🤓 5y
