This was entertaining enough, but a little disappointing overall. The Batman/Elmer Fudd issue rightfully got the most attention, but the Wonder Woman/Taz issues was also fun, and the Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian was a good idea, if a little lazy in execution. Lobo/Road Runner was overly silly. Johan Hex/Yosemite Sam was overly serious. Legion of Superheroes/Bugs was just bad. The 8-page looney comics were also bad.

Thanks go to Panda Redd for making me aware of this one's existence. Sure it's dark, sad and gorey, but it's also a rollicking bop though classic literature, (the Little Women kick Deadpool's ass: I appreciate this) and the recognition that a) The comic book characters we know best have some powerful antecedents b) stories matter 1/2

Robotswithpersonality 2/2 c) a violent jaunt in graphic novel form doesn't necessarily do anyone any harm, as long as it's not what the entire comic book industry is reduced to. 1w

Absolutely loved this, just ridiculously fun. And fantastic audio reading by Wil Wheaton, as usual. Hyper intelligent cats, unionizing dolphins, bumbling villainous henchmen, what‘s not to love? Mad that I waited so long to read it.

ChaoticMissAdventures Agree! I thought this was a ton of fun! 1w
LiteraryHoarderPenny This was the highlight of my reading year so far! Wil Wheaton was perfection narrating this. Loved it! 1w
SpeculativeFemale While I generally like all of Scalzi's books, this one is hands down one of his best. 1w

I got in the habit of keeping $10-20 in the car for tolls when I lived in the lower 48, but since there aren't toll roads in AK, I've fallen out of the habit. I don't often carry cash in my wallet. 💵

There have been some cool stories of a stripped-down Batman, but for the most part, his tools and gadgets are a big part of his character. 🦇

TheSpineView No toll roads here, thank goodness. Hate tolls. Thanks for playing 2w

41/100 There is a killer lose in Gotham, named Midnight, who takes the heart of their victims. Working with some of Batman's most notorious foes, Joker, Scarecrow, Clayface, they wreak terror on the city. The story is kind of clunky, exposition heavy, and Midnight's true identity is pretty obvious. What saves this from a so-so rating, is the amazing artwork by Kelly Jones. Jones truly captures Batman as a creature of the night, and since this ⬇️

RamsFan1963 is more a horror comic than a superhero one, the designs of Batman, Midnight, and Gotham itself, brings the story up a notch or two. Jones reminds me a lot of Bernie Wrightson, who was a master of horror comics. 3 ⭐⭐⭐💫 #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 3w

The DEFENDERS have always been the STAR TREK to the AVENGERS‘ STAR WARS. Meaning, less bombastic and more weird and thoughtful. Led by Dr. Strange, a group of mystical misfits must delve deep into the pre-cosmos to counter a threat to existence itself! Bizarre in a good way, but not as great as other tales from this team I‘ve read in the past.

Absolutely loved this in audio. Wil Wheaton performed it and was perfection. A book I never would have imagined to pick up and did so on a whim. It‘s been the best boost to my otherwise pretty dull reading year so far. I highly recommend the audio. Lots of fun and laugh out loud moments with an on-point message for today‘s current affairs too.

This is the first Daredevil graphic I‘ve read. It seems a bit contrary a blind person can dive through a window as that will generally cripple or kill most able-bodied people.

Beyond that, may this be a the birth of a native-born Chinese undocumented immigrant? Coz that‘d be awesome.

The book did bring up the difficulties the undocumented have to deal with no matter how much they deserve to be citizens.

We definitely more of that message.

Soscha If finishing up the last of my Hoopla free reads if you can‘t tell. 😝 3w
