This memoir of deep poverty expanded my knowledge of this highly stigmatized experience. I have considered cleaning homes before, but this makes me rethink that. The author takes us on her journey of leaving an abusive relationship and surviving at the bare minimum while parenting alone. I enjoyed the chapters where she explained the story of each house she cleaned, the relationships she made. I read the book first, then watched the⬇️

JenniferEgnor Netflix adaptation. I was really excited to watch it, but was disappointed because about 95% of the book material was changed. 2w

I‘ve been a Jojo Moyes fan since Me Before You. She is great at writing characters & stories that are very true to life & relatable. Loved Lila & her highly dysfunctional hilarious family. Excellent narrator. 4⭐️

Not a story for the ages, but def a story my age. Lila is 42 and her life is chaos. I don‘t have her issues, but can relate to some of how she feels. Beautiful character development about people who make mistakes and learn how to work through them. Book #28 in 2025

Overall 4.5 stars! I really enjoyed Lila and her extended & blended family. There were a few cliches thrown in so that detracted from a 5 star rating. I thought the grandads were the best & am glad characters grew the way they needed to. I really enjoy Moyes‘ writing! The narrator did a fantastic job!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I didn‘t want it to end and I was certainly immersed in this family‘s world. It‘s character rather than plot driven. I found it quite relatable, totally engaging and humorous. I even liked Gene, the errant father, by the end of the book. He endeared himself! 🙂

A library book. It needs to be back by 7 April as there are 45 people behind me on the reservation list, so I better get a move on! I do enjoy Jojo Moyes‘ books.

Ohhh, I liked this. There‘s nothing really big or exciting in this story of what defines family after death and divorces, but there are some really sweet moments. I think for most of us life is really about those sweet moments. So different from my previously reviewed book which was also devoid of the big moments 🤣
