Pickpick

This certainly left me grappling at words how to review it. It started off strange and got incredibly stranger. A haunting and upsetting read, I must say, yet the premise is interesting, the book beautifully written and translated. In the end, it's not just about a woman's mental illness but of two damaged women. I understand now why this book is not for everyone. I didn't love it, but it certainly is unforgettable. ⭐⭐⭐

erzascarletbookgasm @rachelm you are right! Thank you 😊 7y
Suet624 For some reason I never saw her as mentally ill. I saw her as trying to have a little bit of control in a claustophobic and regimented world. 7y
erzascarletbookgasm @Suet624 Yes, I did see that she was forced to conform, mentally and physically, and her resistance led her to self- destruction. She wanted to be free, and if she can't, she no longer wanted to live..as a human being. It's sort of a jab at modern Korea, imo. (edited) 7y
Suet624 Right. A better analysis than mine. ❤ 7y

I own so, so many books, but very few with silhouettes on the cover, I guess. So I took this image from google because it was a library book that I already returned. :) Books like this are why I love reading challenges. I don't think I would have picked it up on my own, but it fit a category, so I read it. And I loved it. If you have never done a reading challenge, I highly recommend it! #silhouettecover #seasonsreadings2016

literarymermaid I agree! This was my first year doing reading challenges and it brought me some great books I wouldn't have read otherwise. 7y
