My mom bought me this book that she read in the 80s. It helped her overcome the damaging parenting that she went through, particularly as a kid of an alcoholic. Reading this book with that context in mind made me grateful she broke the cycle of not treating you children as human beings and the normalizing of abusive behaviour as 'good parenting.' I wouldn't recommend this book in any other circumstance other than the one I read it under, though!

An excellent guide to the curious, wonderful, confusing, exciting, anxiety inducing world of being an empath. This book helped explain so much, helps you to assess your level of empath tendencies, & gives good basic guidelines and tools on how to deal with that. There is no one size fits all book. This book may be the perfect fit for you, or it may just have a few good useful tools.

Being sick in bed sucks, but it means that I get to make a small dent in my TBR. This was my first Superman comic, and I really liked it! I honestly only bought it because the author said they listened to Taylor Swift's folklore while writing/illustrating it. 😂 Either way, it was fun to explore a new genre.

I watched the new documentary “Stutz” on Netflix by Jonah Hill and was intrigued to learn more about Phil Stutz and his tools. I enjoyed the book and thought the tools were helpful practices. I have been thinking of them and other parts of the book throughout my days. As a Christian, also in recovery, I was able to augment the tools a little with my faith (something the book suggested). Overall enjoyable content.

Such an enlightening book that brings to light all the things that cripple us from making the change.

I found this 1986 book by Judith Viorst to be a wise, sensitive, and clear-eyed guide to understanding and processing the unavoidable losses (of every sort) in the successive seasons of life. Viorst doesn‘t tell you how to feel - she just shows you the country and walks with you. Psychology, literature, anecdotes, and memoir are plied for insight. I recommend it for anyone looking into the gulf of loss, or struggling with the fear that they will.

It's not the author's fault I am a born skeptic. I buy that I am extra sensitive and I pick up others' emotions around me, but I'm not sure how I feel about the explanation as to why. It made me feel less alone, but when we get into magic gemstones and communicating with the dead, you lose my atheist butt. I need a bit more practical solutions for coping with extra sensitivity. I will have to meditate on this awhile.
