Ok, that‘s weird- I posted about this earlier - but apparently it didn‘t ‘take‘.

Anyhow, this is a big ol‘ hug of a book. Jay Jay is waiting with Grannie for the rest of the family to arrive for Sunday lunch. He‘s hungry, so Gran‘s finding ways to distract him. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the story‘s warm and cuddly!

Only One You | Linda Kranz

Only One You is a children‘s picture book written and illustrated by Linda Kranz. This should be a must read for all educators as it celebrates everyone‘s uniqueness with beautiful pictures and inspirational words. This would be an effective shared reading opportunity to all learners to interact with the book. This book would meet UDL 7.2 to optimize relevance, value and authenticity. #ucflae3414su19

MeaganM EL strategy 22 could be reached with this book as you provide wait time as students think about the relevance and share when they are ready. A website to guide educators through the shared reading experience with resources and printables is https://thisreadingmama.com/shared-reading-ideas-printable/ 1mo
DawnS This sounds like a great book especially for the elementary classroom! I really enjoyed your article about shared reading and the bullet that said it will build success and confidence for all readers. 1mo
DrSpalding Shared reading and effective read aloud skills are embedded in this post. Wait time is so important. Helpful resource. 3w

Talk about a perfect first day of school book! The Recess Queen by Alexis O‘Neill and illustrated by Laura Huliska-Beith is a RF PB. The theme of this book is kindness and friendship. The ending is very heartwarming. I love this story and would use it as a first day of school RA. #LAE3414Sp19

C.Austin This resource includes pre-reading and post-reading discussion questions. It also includes a post-reading activity that will help students reflect and further their comprehension. http://castle.eiu.edu/reading/therecessqueen.pdf ESOL Strategy 1: Teach questioning for clarification. Love Jamie Lee Curtis‘ children‘s book, Is There Really a Human Race? Through clever rhyming and bright and diverse illustrations, children are lead on a journey to answer this very question,

We learn we all have unique talents, and if we don‘t respect and acknowledge one another, all we‘re going to do is crash.

Absolutely perfect for young children or even for sparking a discussion with older children.
