This is a good introduction to pollinator conservation and gardening. 🦋

I‘m pooped. It was a busy afternoon harvesting mint and digging up sunflower roots. And when I went to the back gardens we still had bees flying around trying to get the last of the pollen before the flowers give up the ghost for the season.

Freespirit I am making bird and bee baths in my garden and trying to keep flowering plants alive for them during this horrible drought.❤️🐝🌻 2mo
quirkyreader @Freespirit Something that will also help with the plants is to fill up beer or glass bottles with water, up end them and place them around the garden plots. It provides much needed moisture . (edited) 2mo

A fantastic introduction to the over 4000 different kinds of North American bees. Honeybees are introduced from abroad!

I mentioned this book in a story about bee houses I was interviewed about:

My favorite book of 2018. Then again, I love bees!

TheBogwitch A friend of mine is a biologist/professor doing a bees of the plains study. I never knew there were so many kinds of bees! 12mo
Ceratina @TheBogwitch I just saw you commented on this! How did I not notice? So sorry! Trying to figure this place out. I like Litsy and love just looking around at what people are sharing about books. Thanks for recommending the site! 11mo
TheBogwitch @Ceratina we are in the same boat. I‘m kind of lost, but I do enjoy Litsy. 11mo

Freespirit My husband and I have an organic Macadamia farm and we now have bees. I made the first batch of honey recently to give as Christmas gifts. It really is amazing how they work together to make honey. I love watching them at work! Glad you like bees too😊 11mo
Ceratina Oh, that is so cool! Macadamias and honey bees!! It‘s nice to meet you and I look forward to sharing more with you on Litsy. 😊 11mo

This was an unusual and intriguing novel, although in the end I felt it failed quite to live up to its early promise. The hardback is beautifully presented, though. What a beautifully produced book: a lovely dust jacket with a gorgeous hard cover underneath. The story is great, too. #majalunde #thehistoryofbees #bees #fiction #contemporaryliterature #norwegianliterature #naturalhistory #history #science #worldliterature #insects #honey #pollination #pollinators #blessedarerhepollinators

I've just gotten started with this book (they hubby won it from a GR giveaway) and I'd have to say that it's very informative and impressive! There are things I've known about bees and the need to grow gardens more organically, but there's so much more information than I had expected. This will be my go-to gardening book when we get a house with a yard!

MrBook Nice review! 3y
