I was 16 when Serbia was involved in a civil war so I don't remember much about it. I remember the mass graves and genocide from the news. After reading this book, I still don't know what cultures were involved. Duro's past and his feud with neighbors is intriguing. I'm sort of ashamed that I don't know this history of former Yugoslavia. I remember reading Zlata's Diary. Can anyone recommend others from this time period - fiction or nonfiction?

Purpleness This one is also good; it‘s very poetic, and touches on the history in a more removed way.

SockieLady I don't know if you're still looking for suggestions, but The War Reporter by Martin Fletcher was an excellent book on the subject and is based on some of the actual military figures who took part in the war/genocide. 4y

In Sights: The Story of a Welsh Guardsman | Tim Rees

so-so

Finished this one last night. The stories were interesting but the writing was badly edited and full of superfluous commas and other grammar oddities. This finished the last of the 10 countries I was given for #PassportLitsy (The Falkland Islands) and was also the last book for #litsyreadingchallenge2018 (war/military memoir)!!!!
