#NobelPrize for Literature winner announced! I haven‘t heard of either author before 🙈. What do you think of the recipients‘ works? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/nobel-prizes-in-literature...

#LitsyNewsNetwork #LNN #TheMoreYouKnow

ljuliel I‘ve never heard of either one. I think someone needs to invent a Chastity Belt for men that works a bit like those Shock Collars for dogs. Maybe that‘d teach them to keep their danged pants on. It seems that scandals are bleeding over into every area anymore. That‘s why I don‘t watch the news. Ignorance is Bliss. Too depressing. 2mo

The Buried Giant: A novel | Kazuo Ishiguro
post image

I‘m about halfway through The Buried Giant and I am enjoying it so far! I admit it took me a while to get into it, but now I‘m hooked!

I‘m also looking forward to seeing what sort of twists and heart wrenching turns Kazuo Ishiguro has planned. If there‘s one thing my experience with Never Let Me Go and The Remains of the Day have taught me it‘s to protect my heart!

I‘m still basking in the afterglow of these stories and have nothing intelligible to say except they‘re breathtaking and I need to read a lot more #AliceMunro, especially if these aren‘t her best, as I‘ve heard. 💗 #DearLife #shortstories #nobelprize

Kammbia1 I don't read a lot of short stories. But I came across this collection in my local library and started reading “Haven“. I really liked it and will be reading more of Alice Munro. 4mo

Such a grueling and miserable life, but Ivan hustles and takes pride in his work and find joy in the littlest things. Simple yet powerful. That last paragraph, man.

I had every reaction from “beautiful writing” and “insightful” to “ugh, another man who refuses to write believable women” and “why do some authors insist on equating passion with violence”. Thought-provoking but in the end, not for me. #1001books #nobelprize

My morning reading - this book has been on my shelf for years and I‘m finally prompted to read it after the author‘s death earlier in the month. #1001books #nobelprize

Emilymdxn I really want to read this one too! Excited to see what you think. My boyfriend is reading it now and I‘m hoping to borrow it when he‘s done 1y
JenniferP @Emilymdxn fun that you‘ll be reading it too! I‘ve never read Naipaul before, and admit to thinking I won‘t love it after hearing comparisons to Conrad. But I like the style of the opening pages so I‘m keeping an open mind! 1y
Emilymdxn I just read In A Free State and really liked it - the one I read was a difficult read but very anti colonial and coming from a very different place than Conrad (who I can‘t stand), but I think Bend in the River is quite different from In A Free State so they might leave very different impressions! 1y

Small Memories | Jos Saramago

Mehso-so

In this work, "Pequenas Memórias", José Saramago brings us a piece of his young himself.
In spite of his characteristic and pleasurable prose, and due to an intentional rigor non chronological, I missed a leading thread in the author's memories. #josesaramago #portugueseauthors #nobelprize #bookreview #smallnemories

I love this book! Gorgeous illustrations, powerful text, and excellent reference materials, including a biographical timeline, make this an engaging introduction to the life and work of #NobelPrize winner #WangariMaathai. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #PictureBooks #BackgroundKnowledge #DiverseReads #NastyWomen #Africa
