This took me longer than I'd expected, I guess I didn't fully get into it. It doesn't feel much like it relies on Christmas for the mood/setting, except by getting Liane into the whole thing (which could be produced by any visit). So, not a super-seasonal read. I saw the culprit quite early, because it's pretty fair-play as a mystery.

Overall, not a favourite, but pleasant enough.

And hey, one of my #10BeforeTheEnd.

Well, this was a fun romp! I forgot how much I enjoy Taylor's writing and wit. And it goes down so quickly and easily! Not sure which prompt I'll use this for with the #christmascrimechallenge - part of it does take place on a train, but it might be my reader's choice. Or arguably cozy? It depends how the rest of the month shakes out. 😉

Elliott Roosevelt wrote 20 mystery books with his mother as the sleuth! I‘ve got to find these!

First finish of #10BeforeTheEnd for me is this, the second in the Olga Pushkin Mysteries series. I like Olga as a character, and enjoyed this gentlest unfolding murder mystery, but, oh, the cliffhanger ending 😱

The Girl You Know | Elle Gonzalez Rose

Since their mother died & their father succumbed to addiction, Luna & Solina have mostly been on their own except for each other. Luna works back-to-back shifts at the local diner in order to pay for her twin sister's tuition at the prestigious Kingswood Academy. Then, the week before she was due to return to school for her final term, Solina says she wants to drop out. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf The twins argue about the sudden decision & in the end Solina heads back to campus, but 12 hours later she is dead.

The police don't seem interested in investigating so Luna decides to take her sister's place. She's going to find out why her sister didn't want to go back, why she was killed, & most of all, who killed her.

I read this one on a whim so wasn't sure what to expect. It turned out to be a decent read with some quite heavy themes,

OutsmartYourShelf but the reader has to suspend their disbelief that the supposed friends (& boyfriend) of Solina wouldn't be suspicious that she was suddenly acting completely out of character. I also thought that it was very obvious who the killer was. Overall though, it was very readable & kept my interest until the end. 3.75🌟

I have participated in 46 of these activities. Here are a few worth noting.
1. Hayride - no murder, but I think they‘re overrated
2. S‘mores - definitely not overrated
3. Tailgating at a football game - my husband‘s cousins all went to Penn State and have tailgating down to a science

This was... okay? I was definitely curious about the mystery, but not so totally absorbed that I couldn't have lived without finding the answer. Still, I felt really meh today and this kept me interested enough to read about half of it in one go, so I think I'm just generally muted in affect today and I probably liked it.

Either way, that was my #DoubleSpin.
