pickSweet graphic novel based on the Author‘s life. It takes you through her childhood, and dives into unpleasant, happy, and repressed memories. The illustrations were wonderful, and the color scheme was pretty and soft. I enjoyed all the 80‘s references being an ‘86 baby myself :)
Starting this graphic novel. My goal this year is to read more books in Spanish. This got a lot of praise, and is part of a series of graphic novels I believe are based on the author.
so-soI really enjoyed the unique structure and concept - 618 short passages, some authored by Shields, while others are quotations, bits of interviews or other materials to fit each chapter's theme. Those themes also cover interesting intellectual topics on the fraught border between fiction versus nonfiction. But I kept hearing this implication that traditional fiction is tired and some new experimental fictive nonfiction is superior somehow 👇
